  14. NITRO:
  15.  
  16. This game is a cute little racing game were you play against the 
  17. computer or two other drivers.
  18.  
  19. You have to win at all costs, you use any means to win your 
  20. races, and collect any items that are floating around on the 
  21. screen, but beware of the little red man, you get bonus points 
  22. for collecting the following items:
  23.  
  24. Gas: Gives you 100 units  every time that it's collected.
  25.  
  26. P  : A white letter  'P' gives you extra points, and the points 
  27. change from screen to screen.
  28.  
  29. N  : A red letter 'N' gives you a nitro booster which makes you 
  30. go faster for a short period of time.
  31.  
  32. Money: Money you collect floating around on the road lets you 
  33. change your status when you enter the garage, ie add more gas, or 
  34. repair you car or buy a turbo booster etc.
  35.  
  36. When you enter into the game, you race around different tracks, 
  37. during the day time or at night, the more races you win, the more 
  38. points you get for the drivers table.
  39.  
  40. I managed to get to the 29th track before running out of gas, 
  41. which is very easy to do, even if the computer tells you that you 
  42. are running low on gas it is up to you to collect the gas barrels 
  43. that roll down the street.

  45. By the way on certain tracks, the computer gives you a bonus for 
  46. running over the pedestrians, where it normally takes money off 
  47. of you.

  49. My favourite part of this game is riding at night time (try and 
  50. keep to the cats eyes or else).

  52. If I were to give this game marks then I would score it as 
  53. follows:

  55. The idea is not original, so I would mark it 7 out of 10.
  56. Games play I would mark it 8 out of 10.
  57. Playability 8 out of 10.

  65. This game has you trying to collect a load of eggs and then 
  66. destroying them before they hatch.
  67.  
  68. You must find the door way to enter into the underground 
  69. chambers, this game has a lot of keys to control different items 
  70. for you, the graphics for this game is 3D solid shapes.

  72. The loading screen and animation at the start of this game is 
  73. well worth watching, the sound track is good also.

  75. I found this game very hard to play, but the game type is like 
  76. that of Dungeon master, a 3D adventure.

  78. As I said the problems I had with this game was that I could not 
  79. remember the correct key in time to survive, I was soon over 
  80. taken with ants and such so I did not last long.

  82. To get anywhere at all in this game then you must find keys, the 
  83. keys let you enter network terminals which you have to access, 
  84. because this is the only way you can see where everything is, as 
  85. it shows you a map of the area and all you do is use your 
  86. joystick to see all around the map.

  88. The idea of this game is good, but it is not my type of game.
  89. So if you are looking for a game that will keep you lock into it 
  90. for a long time, then this is the game that you're looking for.

  92. As completing this game will take you quite some time, the 
  93. program lets you format a games disk for your to store your saved 
  94. games on to, and to access the game you last saved out.

  96. The graphics for this game are of good quality.

  98. I found this game hard to play but if you like seek, find, and 
  99. destroy games then this is the one for you.
  100. Well what can I say for this game?

  102. As I said I found this game hard as I could only find one key?
  103. If you can find more then I would like to hear from you, if I had 
  104. more keys then I would like to give this game another go.

  107. Shadow of the beast:

  109. This game was to be a game that had the very best of parallax 
  110. scrolling landscapes.
  111.  
  112. It was a great idea but it didn't work, sorry Psygnosis.
  113. Let's get down to the actual game.
  114.  
  115. You control the beast through the landscapes and corridors, you 
  116. pass a well that invites you to enter it, if you don't have a key 
  117. then it's not worth while going down the well as the door at the 
  118. bottom is locked.
  119.  
  120. I lost lifes fast and furious until I try a little hint that I got 
  121. from my friend Mick, which was at the beginning of the game 
  122. instead of going right, go left first for about five trees or so, 
  123. and then count to twenty (but while you are doing this watch out 
  124. for boulders and other beasts), after counting to twenty now go 
  125. right and you will get extra lifes easier now (and boy while you 
  126. need them).

  128. When you go further right you are met with a bombardment of 
  129. different types of beasts that you could ever imagine, these 
  130. beasts while sap you of your lifes very fast unless you get the 
  131. first strike in before they hit you.

  133. Once you complete the first level (which will take you some time 
  134. and practice) you then enter in to the under earth, but beware of 
  135. the giant beast as you cannot defeat it without the sword, and 
  136. where do we get the sword I hear you ask, in the first level 
  137. that's where.

  139. You have to play this game a good few times to get anywhere at 
  140. all, which brings me back to tell you about the constant disk 
  141. swapping which spoils this game, I wonder what would this game be 
  142. like if it where on the one Disk?
  143.  
  144. I have a list of weapons and where they can be found, if you want 
  145. them, then drop me a letter via Sten.

  147. For a game that starts with a great picture and fantastic music, 
  148. only to be spoiled by the nearly non playable games play and 
  149. constant disk swapping, if you can put up with this then you will 
  150. like this game.

  152. At the beginning of this review, I was talking about parallax 
  153. scrolling, well when the hero (you) passes by a tree or whatever 
  154. the speed slows right down and spoils the gamesplay, I think that 
  155. Psygnosis would have to look in to this problem before they 
  156. release any further killing games, with this type of scrolling.

  158. So until we meet again my friends, I must go and try and find some 
  159. more keys in the Infestation game.
